Strides Against Stigma - mental health volunteer opportunity
Strides Against Stigma is a “stride-a-thon” to raise awareness of depressive disorders and to build a community dedicated to erasing the stigma around depression. It will take place on April 28, 2012 at Boston University’s Nickerson Field.
The event website is www.StridesAgainstStigma.org.
Strides Against Stigma is not your typical walk-a-thon. Instead of walking from point A to point B, participants set a personal goal for the number of strides they will commit to take against stigma. In the weeks before Strides Against Stigma, individuals and teams will gather sponsors and donations for their participation in Strides. On the day of the event, participants will meet at Boston University and will be given a pedometer and t-shirt. They can collect strides by walking on the track, but also while enjoying the live entertainment, raffles, free food, games, celebrity appearances, and performances. Come out for a fun day supporting a great cause! Lots of chances to WIN!
To register your team, or to make a donation, please visit www.StridesAgainstStigma.org. Student registration is only $10, and general registration is $25. Kids under 12 participate for free.
Please feel free to contact info@stridesagainststigma.org with any questions! We hope to see you there!
