Local Charity Supports AIDS Orphans in Kenya - “One Village at a Time”

Local Charity Supports AIDS Orphans in Kenya

“One Village at a Time” to celebrate fourth annual “Harambee” fundraiser

Boston, MA…What started as the vision and compassion of one woman has blossomed
into a thriving organization providing invaluable services to some of Kenya’s most
needy. “One Village at a Time” is the work of Susan Gross. Gross, who traveled to
Nambale, Kenya in 2002 witnessed first hand the loss and devastation that the AIDS
epidemic has had on children. “One Village” was then created and the work of the
non profit now empowers African villages to create small, sustainable programs for
AIDS orphans and their villages. “One Village” will hold its fourth annual “Harambee”
Swahili for a “joyous get together” on Saturday April 30th in the South End of Boston.
The evening will include an open bar, delicious food from B.Good, live music and
an impressive selection of silent auction items including a one week getaway to
Moonlight Basin Montana, Red Sox tickets, Golf at Blue Hills Country Club and much
more. “One Village is a labor of love,” says Founder and Executive Director Susan
Gross “After seeing the way AIDS has ravaged villages and torn apart families I had to
do something”. “Now through this charity, we can all help and make a huge difference”.
Every dollar raised for “One Village” goes directly to helping the children and their
villages. “One Village” and its Executive Director travel to Nambale, Kenya to work with
the villagers to develop new coalitions and deliver donations to ensure that no dollar is
wasted.

Tickets are $45 advanced purchase and $50 at the door.

About One Village at a Time

One Village at a Time is a non-profit, non-government organization, which strives to create small, sustainable programs for AIDS orphans and their villages. One Village is dedicated to a strong, steady approach to eliminating the burden AIDS orphans place on isolated rural villages. The center of rural African economic life is the family. So in addition to everything else, children orphaned by AIDS lose access to the economic engines which can sustain them. One Village helps their partner villages muster their own resources, increase the interdependence among the families, and increase the local economic resources so that all members of the community benefit.

It’s really great to do online charity and be a part of a social cause! It takes a lot of efforts and patience to raise money for various social causes specially for AIDS orphans and their villages.
